Pre-planning is a vital part of the maintenance and repair procedure, which is why at Seatrans we will always acquire all necessary information prior to any ship repair task, thus ensuring that all essential equipment, locations and expertise are available and ready to carry out the required work.
Our local expertise and contacts in the ship repair industry means that repairs can be carried out offshore, or in Malta shipyards or yacht yards. That means we can provide maintenance and ship repair services to virtually any vessel at a convenient and suitable location.
Our local contacts and experienced team of staff can ensure that delivery and clearance of spares is undertaken quickly and efficiently, maximising safety and work rate during the task.
During this time we can arrange for crew changes, hotel accommodation, garbage collection and clearance, cash to Master, air ticketing, excursion services, Daily Guardianage Service and medical arrangements amongst others.
We also offer a full tank cleaning service in port, dependent on the scale of the operation and the ullage availability of the receiver.
With minimising delays always high on our agenda, we obtain all required information prior to arrival of the vessel. In this way we can ensure that arrangements are made for a smooth and transitional operation throughout, and give a quick response to any enquiry regarding accommodating your tank cleaning requirements.
The tank cleaning installation is sited in sheltered waters, within the Valletta harbour breakwater and is equipped with its private jetty and shore tanks enabling easy docking and launch of ships and yachts.
The installation jetty allows for a multitude of tasks to be carried out including all slops disposal, deballasting, tank washing, purging, inerting, gas freeing and cargo tank upgrading.
Machined tank cleaning is carried out at the tank cleaning station, which can also provide hoses, ventilation fans, compressed air and flue type inert gas with lower than two per cent oxygen and nitrogen. However, owners of vessels or their authorised representatives are welcome to utilise their own on-board facilities if required.
Full safety considerations are fundamentally inherent to the entire location, such is the layout of the plant as the jetty and storage tanks are separated and intrinsically safe equipment is used throughout the entire process. To enhance the safety of the environment, a remotely controlled foam fire fighting system has been installed.
